Job Description

Catholic Charities is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for the Gabriel House Project in Denver, CO.


Recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers in the delivery of services and operation of the Gabriel Houses. Coordinator provides information, support and guidance to both episodic and ongoing volunteers,


  • Implements program objectives and performance standards as directed by supervisor/ management to support our mission.
  • Follows budget as set by Director.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet monthly reporting requirements. Enters data and generates reports, including a monthly department report showing volunteer service hours.
  • Recruits, screens, interviews and places all volunteers to support the programs, special events, and the daily operations of The Gabriel Houses
  • Recruits volunteers through talks, tours and relationships with churches, businesses and academic institutions.
  • Orients all volunteers to the mission, values and volunteer requirements of Gabriel House Project and Catholic Charities.
  • In conjunction with Director and Staff, coordinate educational classes and volunteer placement and scheduling for faith-based and other optional classes.
  • Works with fund development department in coordinated effort to mutually recruit donors and volunteers through outreach efforts.
  • Implements program objectives and performance standards as directed by Director.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements.
  • Maintains volunteer records and data base information, ensuring they are complete, up-to-date and accurate.
  • In conjunction with appropriate internal personnel, develops and implements volunteer recognition and retention events and activities.
  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
  • Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.


  • Provides articles and testimonies for Gabriel House/Catholic Charities newsletter.
  • Good steward of Agency human, financial and capital resources
  • Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
  • Participates in staff trainings and programs as required.
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned.


  • A minimum of two years related work experience working with the public and volunteers.
  • Computer skills and use of basic software programs, including Microsoft Word, excel and databases to enter data, create and generate reports and create communications and presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations in front of groups
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines.
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.



Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university in a related field; and one to two years related Human Services/Marketing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Important Notes

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position, 30 hours a week.

This position have frequent travel between Gabriel House locations in CO.

This positions requires availability to work on nights and weekends 1 to 4 times a month.

Must have a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.

Experience in managing volunteers is required.
