Job Description

Catholic Charities is looking for a Maintenance Tech for The Mission, our homeless shelter, in Ft. Collins, CO.

SUMMARY

Support all plant and grounds maintenance for The Mission in Ft. Collins, CO to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive all daily work orders from Supervisor.
  • Communicate all daily work orders to Maintenance Tech I persons.
  • Maintain all vehicles belonging to the facilities program.
  • Works alone or with Supervisor or Maintenance Tech I persons in all areas of grounds maintenance.
  • Assures all tools are accounted for and properly maintained and all batteries charged and ready for service.
  • Will perform preventative maintenance in all facilities and alert Supervisor of necessary repairs needed.
  • Keep all mechanical areas in a clean and orderly manner and perform inventories on supplies.
  • Will perform painting as necessary.
  • Help in the moving of furniture throughout the agency.
  • Perform some janitorial duties.
  • Assist Supervisor in major and minor repairs.
  • Keep all lighting in proper working order.
  • Order and pickup parts as needed.
  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the maintenance field and demonstrated general knowledge of maintenance and repair, including areas such as plumbing electrical, HVAC and/or general carpentry.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle with a standard transmission (for roving position)
  • Must be able to safely work with cleaning agents, solvents, insecticides, chemicals and paints.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle with a standard transmission
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from accredited two-year college or technical school; and two to four year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Important Notes

This is a full-time position, 30 hours per week.

Hours are Monday through Friday, flexible schedule.

This position requires a valid Driver's License and a clean MVR.

Experience with building maintenance, basic repair, and grounds upkeep required.

Experience with HVAC and vendors is preferred.
