Job Description

Catholic Charities is looking for an Assistant Center Director for one of our Early Childhood Education Centers in Denver, CO.

SUMMARY

Assists the Center Supervisor in the overall operation and management of a licensed child care center. Shares responsibility for parent involvement including Family Partnership Agreements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies appropriate techniques and standards in program development and service delivery.
  • Implements program objectives and performance standards as directed by supervisor/ management, ensuring program compliance with all Child Care Licensing regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Follows budget as set by manager. Provides input into process.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements. Enters data and generates reports.
  • Assists Center Supervisor in maintaining and managing staff schedules to ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained for each classroom at all times.
  • Assumes responsibility for center operations at all times when Center Supervisor is not on site.
  • Works with the administrative team to facilitate development of program components which address the developmental, cognitive, physical and safety needs of children enrolled in the program and to ensure compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Fosters family involvement by developing positive relationships with each child’s family, orientating new families, and participating in the Family Partnership Agreement process with a case load of families.
  • Networks and maintains collaborative efforts between Catholic Charities and other organizations and community individuals as appropriate.
  • Participates with appropriate staff in identification, staffing, and service delivery for children with special needs and their families.
  • Participates in all parent meetings including planning and in all special events.
  • Takes initiative to respond to crises that arise regarding the health and safety of children and families.
  • Acts as substitute in classroom when necessary.
  • Monitors all monthly U.S.D.A Food Sheets and other reports as necessary.
  • Assists Supervisor with updating and maintaining all required material for files, especially as specified by state licensing regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Understands and follows all fire regulations and other safety requirements.
  • Maintains classrooms and general building appearance to ensure safety and requests necessary repairs as needed.
  • Assists Center Supervisor in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Agency’s values and policies, and applicable laws. Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance on an ongoing basis; developing, coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Facilitates the transition process for children in house and new enrollees.
  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
  • Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops referral sources for and provides crisis intervention including situations such as child abuse, domestic violence, and emergency food and housing needs.
  • Assists in arranging field trips, special events, transportation, etc. for classes.
  • Good steward of Agency human, financial and capitol resources.
  • Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
  • Participates in staff trainings and programs as required.
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills for entering data, generating reports and creating communications
  • Current Director Qualified status according to the Colorado Department of Human Services
  • Ability to remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details.
  • Ability to remain calm and calm others in an emergency and/or confrontational situation.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from accredited college or technical school in Early Childhood Education or related field; and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Important Notes

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Hours are Monday through Friday.

**Signing bonus will be paid after satisfactory performance & completion of 90 days of employment **

Experience with ECE Center Supervision is preferred.
